This policy explains what information Frelsea collects when you visit frelsea.com or get in touch, and how we handle it.

Who we are

Frelsea Limited is a maritime advisory incorporated in Hong Kong, working with shipowners on vessel acquisition, technical management and fleet strategy. We are the data controller for information collected through this site. For any question about this policy or your information, email contact@frelsea.com.

We advise clients internationally, so this policy is written to cover visitors wherever they are.

Information we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum.

• Information you give us. When you submit the enquiry form on our contact page, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you provide. If you email us instead, we hold whatever you choose to send.
• Information collected automatically. We use Google Analytics to measure site usage, such as pages viewed, approximate region and device type. Where consent is required and not given, this is limited to anonymous, aggregated measurement with no cookies and no identifier. Our host, GitHub Pages, may also record standard server logs such as IP address and browser type, to deliver and secure the site.

We do not ask for and do not want payment details, identity documents, or any other sensitive information through this website.

How we use it

• To read and respond to enquiries you send us.
• To keep a record of our correspondence with clients and counterparties.
• To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used and improve it.

We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across the web.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. We run it through Google Consent Mode, which adjusts what is collected based on your choice:

• In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, no analytics cookies or identifiers are stored unless you accept. Before you choose, and if you decline, Google receives only anonymous, aggregated signals, with no cookies and no identifier, used to estimate overall usage. If you accept, a small number of first-party Google Analytics cookies are set.
• Elsewhere, analytics is enabled by default. You can opt out at any time using the Cookies link in the footer.
• We honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out, so no cookies are set for browsers that send it.

To decide whether to ask for consent, we check your approximate country through a third-party lookup service, which reads your IP address and does not set a cookie. You can change your choice, or clear cookies in your browser, at any time, and the site works exactly the same.

The fonts used on this site are served from our own domain, so simply loading a page does not disclose your visit to a font provider.

Services we rely on

A few third parties help us run the site. Each handles data under its own privacy terms:

• Formspree delivers enquiry-form submissions to our inbox.
• Google Analytics measures site usage, only with consent where consent is required.
• GitHub Pages hosts the website.
• country.is provides the approximate-country lookup described above.

Legal basis (EU and UK)

If you are in the EU or UK, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

• Your consent, for Google Analytics cookies where consent is required. You can withdraw it at any time.
• Our legitimate interest in reading and responding to enquiries you choose to send us, in keeping the website secure and working, and in understanding overall site usage through anonymous, aggregated measurement that does not identify you or set cookies.
• Performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one, where your enquiry leads to an engagement.

International transfers

We are incorporated in Hong Kong, and the providers we use (Google, Formspree and GitHub) are based in the United States, so your information may be processed in either place. Where we receive information from the EU, EEA or UK, these transfers rely on the safeguards in each provider's terms, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, and on your consent or the necessity of the transfer to respond to your enquiry.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as we need it to respond and to support any engagement that follows, and afterwards for as long as our business and tax record-keeping obligations require, then remove it. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email contact@frelsea.com and we will help, at no cost.

If you are in Hong Kong, the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance gives you the right to request access to and correction of your personal data, and to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.

If you are in the EU or UK and you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
